Have You Seen An Underwater Circus?

Most likely you have not, LOL!

BUT, here you are and now you get to see my abstract version of an underwater circus.

This might take a leap of the imagination but look closely and you will see what I'm talking about. The bright colors, movement and indistinct faces will all lead you there.

Why Have Art in the Workplace?

June 28th, 2022

Why Have Art in the Workplace?

Art in the Workplace does more than just make it look nicer.

In fact, the impact of office art is often underestimated both in home offices and larger workplaces. Splashes of color in a painting can alter the mood of a meeting room or a piece of unusual artwork can provide a talking point in a bland corporate space. Placed correctly, office art can provide the inspiration to keep people productive even when they are working on “boring” tasks.

But can artwork have a direct impact on employee productivity or wellbeing?

It seems the answer is yes. Viewing artwork, particularly realistic nature scenes, helps workers restore mental energy and reduce stress. Unsurprisingly, both of these effects boost brain performance. Seeing nature images in artwork has also been linked to lower levels of anger in workplaces.

Art is also often used as a conversation piece which makes your company more inviting. …
Inspiring and interesting artwork creates talking points, stimulates discussion and encourages innovative thinking.

Get Some Balance Here

June 27th, 2022

Get Some Balance Here

Yin Yang are two halves that, together, represent a whole.

According to Ancient Chinese philosophy, the principle of Yin and Yang is that these are two contradictory and inseparable opposites. A few examples of this include old and young, and female and male. The concept is applicable in every aspect of the world including nature, art and everyday life.

In interior design, the balance of Yin and Yang is often seen as the quiet or non active balanced with the active.

This artwork will bring balance to your interior designs, no matter which room you put it in or which interior design style you use it with.

Miracles CAN Happen and Here's Proof

June 26th, 2022

Miracles CAN Happen and Here

Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you'll see them all around you. ~Jon Bon Jovi

Do you believe in miracles? Or do you see them as fantastic things that are not actually real?

Is a miracle a person flying on their own and just levitation or is the miracle flying in a plane?
Do you have to do it on your own for it to be amazing.

Is a miracle something that only happens in the realm of limited imagination or is it something that we all take for granted and consider ordinary?

If you showed a cell phone to someone 200 years ago, would it be a miracle?
Or does once a miracle become ordinary, it's not a miracle anymore?

I think that we want things to focus on that we don't see as possible, rather than focusing on the wonder of just being alive and the everyday blessings found all around us.

Here are some miracles I believe in:

1. The earth itself and the fact that we are conscious and alive
2. Sunrises
3. Sunsets
4. Caterpillars coming out to become butterflies
5. Plants growing from seeds
6. Computers and technology
7. People loving others who have wronged them
8. Babies growing from single cells
9. Flying
10. Coffee
11. Cell phones
12. Birds flying around the world and back
13. Chickens and Eggs
14. Sleep and Dreams
15. Music
16. Color
17. Animals that change colors
18. Random occurrences that are not random
19. Flowers that don't bloom every year
20. Things that exist that we don't see
21. The kindness of strangers

....

There are many, many more that exist, these are just the ones that come to my mind easily.

What about you? What have I missed that you believe in?

Or do you not believe in miracles at all...

The TOP 10 Secrets to Staying FOCUSED at Work

June 23rd, 2022

The TOP 10 Secrets to Staying FOCUSED at Work

Someone messages you on on Slack, Discord or Directly to ask for advice on a project. Three new emails from a client pop up in your inbox. In the background, someone is talking about their kid going to the zoo. Would you still be able to focus while at work?

Many people are easily distracted at work and find it hard to focus.

So how do some people stay focused while others struggle to keep on task and get things done?

The answer lies somewhere between long practice and smart tricks that get us through the day.

Below are my BEST tips, tricks and strategies that I focus on every day to keep myself focused, productive and innovative.
AND yes, art is the #1 thing that helps me in my office.

1. Have a centering, statement piece of art that you draw inspiration from!

2. Use this art, and your work environment as a whole to get in the “flow” (and stay there).

3. Plan ahead for your day, before you start it.

4. Create an hourly work plan for your day.

5. Have a place to write down ideas that come up, so that they don't disrupt the steps above.

6. Keep your to-do list short, organized and up to date.

7. Set deadlines (and honor them).

8. Take small, meaningful breaks throughout the day to refresh your mind and move your body.

9. TURN OFF your notifications!

10. Only check email every 3 hours!

Is It Real Or Just A Fantasy?

June 21st, 2022

Is It Real Or Just A Fantasy?

Is this art landscape scene real or is it just a fantasy?

Does this creature exist in real life or is it a figment of my imagination painted onto a fantasy canvas?

AND/OR does it matter?

For art to be beautiful, does it need to be real or is it just fine living in the realm of imagination?

The answer is obvious when it's an abstract piece we are talking about but what about landscapes or other depictions of actual places?

I know what I think but what about you, what do you think?

How To Enjoy Your Intuition Daily

How To Enjoy Your Intuition Daily

Intuition is something that everyone has but not everyone is in "tune" with it.

So how do you "tune in" your intuition? How do you get more in touch with the inner voice that guides you?

There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but the one that I recommend most is to meditate.
Sit quietly and listen.

Now it's not easy to sit quietly, especially with all the noise in our world today!

But it is possible and you know what helps?

A quiet room with an inspirational piece of art in it.

The perfect piece of art for this is my "Intuition" macro photograph. This piece was specifically created to tune you into your intuition.

Hang it on a wall or balance it on a ledge! Either way, put it in a room that allows you to focus. Or in a room that you want to find more focus in.

Either way, stare deeply into the soothing, very peri color tones and then close your eyes and listen...

Why is it so HARD for Interior Designers to find the BEST art for their projects?

June 19th, 2022

Why is it so HARD for Interior Designers to find the BEST art for their projects?

Many interior designers I meet are spending HOURS scrolling Instagram looking for art for their interior designs!

The thing is, they just don't know a better way. There might just be millions of pieces of art online in a huge variety of sizes, colors, styles and prices.

Now you may be thinking that this makes it EASIER for them to find just the right piece...

Nope! IT's just flat out overwhelming for most of them and they default to Instagram, or Google. Now as an artist and photographer this blows my mind and yet I can see it.

In my network of artists and creative people, everyone is creating and putting out content all the time! Like literally every day for some people. The problem with that is that so much of this work is not worth buying...

Some creative people think that more is better and that they just need to keep putting more work out there and eventually someone will come along and buy it. This doesn't work though because anything that is rushed out the door is not going to be the best quality.

So how do you match the perfect art with the perfect art buyer...

This is where an art agent comes in. Their job is to match the BEST art with the project that it is most suited for. An agent will keep track of not only the art world, but also the interior design world.

So where do you find such a person? Send me a message, I just got connected with one and they are doing a great job bridging the gap between my work and the people who LOVE it.

You can also click below to read the full blog post and learn more about how easy this really is...

Why Isn't My Art Selling?

June 19th, 2022

Why Isn

People tell me my art is amazing so why isn't it selling online?

This is a COMMON question that I see all the time, and have heard all over the internet from artists, to photographers, and basically to any creators I talk to.

It's interesting because it really only comes down to a few things. The difference between people who sell and people who don't.

So many people upload art, many pieces a day sometimes, they do all the things, BUT the art still doesn't sell.

Why not?

Well there are potentially ALOT of reasons but the biggest ones are pretty simple and don't cost anything to fix.

SO WHAT ARE THEY?

#1 Are you offering high quality pieces?
If you don't know the answer to this, ask someone who DOESN'T like you or your work!
Just asking people who love you doesn't actually help...

#2 Can anyone find your creation?
This comes down to the title, description and keywords you are using!
Basic SEO. ALL three of these elements MUST BE included in any internet listing.
Whatever word(s) you use in your title, you must ALSO use in the description AND in the keywords. AND they must MATCH the actual work.

#3 Are the people who find your work the ones who would actually BUY it?
If you have nailed the two steps above, you might be totally in front of the wrong audience who will never buy your work.

It's pretty simple really. You have to NAIL ALL 3 of these or you probably won't sell much...

I didn't start selling consistently until I realized that I had never gotten ALL 3 of the elements above correctly. AND it took me 8 long years of frustration and heartache to figure this out.

Now, there are other things to consider, other strategies to use, BUT these 3 will make or break your sales.

Once I started actually nailing them, I have sold 9 pieces in two weeks, and have many more sales lined up offline.

My art is going into nightclubs, corporate offices, homes and art galleries across the country!

After only two weeks... In the middle of a recession... At the start of summer when art sales are slow for most of us...

Oh yeah, AND I just signed up with an ART AGENT who is going to reach out on my behalf to my target audience around the world to place my art in the spaces it will sell best in.

One more thing to leave you with. Create mockups, or take photos ANYWHERE you can with your creations. Don't ask people to imagine what they will look like, show them!

Benefits of Digital Art vs Traditional Art

June 18th, 2022

Benefits of Digital Art vs Traditional Art

Some view technology as a threat to originality and as seeking to replace traditional art creation. This idea can certainly be worrisome for art teachers. However, studies suggest the use of digital tools in art education increases artistic development and creativity.

Here's Why:

1. Increased Access
Not every student has a set of watercolors or acrylic paint set at home, but many students have access to some type of digital device like an iPad or smartphone.

2. Convenience
Carrying around the necessary art materials to create as you’d like isn’t always convenient. It’s not always realistic to carry around a set up for open air painting or to fill up a water cup for watercolor. It can be a hassle. Creating with a digital medium is relatively hassle-free.

3. Instant Sharing Potential
Because digital art creation is already stored on a digital device, it is easier for artists to share their work in it’s highest form. Work can be shared digitally on websites and through social media instantly.

4. Increased Productivity
Creating digitally saves time. If you make a mistake on a digital drawing or painting, you can simply press the undo button to start over. In a digital creation, you can erase without a trace, change colors easily, and position and resize objects in seconds.

Digital art requires no less skill than traditional art creation, but it does require a different mode of thinking. A mode of thinking that is becoming more and more common.

Technology isn’t going anywhere, and it will continue to evolve at an ever-changing speed.

Check out my portfolio of digital art, it's a fusion of traditional photography, digital tools and many years of experience with many different mediums.

Sunset Pastures

June 16th, 2022

Sunset Pastures

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky. ~Rabindranath Tagore

Suset pastures is an abstract painting produces from a photograph taken in the Methow Valley, in Washington State.

I was coming home one evening, driving along, and I looked up at the mountains and they were alive with color! So stunning in fact that I pulled the car over to the side of the road, pulled out my camera (which was always by my side) and started taking photos.

The earth tones and wonderful blue, orange and green colors pair well with a Boho design and can be placed in a dining room, bedroom or kitchen quite easily. This type of art can also work well in an office, living room or bathroom.

Bring some color, peace and beauty into your interior designs today.

Movement and Momentum Are Key To Success

Movement and Momentum Are Key To Success

Like my friend here says - It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. ~Confucius

Haha, not my friend but I live this advice. It's so easy to stop! But you never get anywhere if you do stop!

So here's to everyone who has a dream and keeps on working on it every time they can. For me, it's art. Art is my dream. I continue to work on it every day and it brings me joy, good fortune and many friends along the way.

Has it made me rich? NO but that's not the point. The point is to uplift everyone along the way and provide beautiful visions for others to enjoy.

What about you? What is your dream?

Office Art for Industrial Interior Designs

June 14th, 2022

Office Art for Industrial Interior Designs

Do you love stripped-down spaces, sleek designs and functional furniture? Then you will most certainly love everything to do with industrial interior design.

The industrial design emphasizes the raw look, so a neutral color palette is more suitable. It's best to keep the walls unpainted or done in neutral colors such as white or gray. Warm and neutral colors can bring some coziness and pops of bright colors can be used for an accent wall or a piece of art.

How Colors Affect Mood in Interior Design

June 14th, 2022

How Colors Affect Mood in Interior Design

Having the right colors in your interior designs are key to productivity, mood, and even innovation!

Some colors, like red, will trigger emotions like passion, love, anger and danger. Where blue brings feelings of calmness, serenity and peace. This is why it is important to put thought into the use of the space and the colors that will enhance the experience in that space.

Understanding The Color Wheel's Importance in Interior Design

Having the right colors in your interior designs are key to productivity, mood, and even innovation!

Some colors, like red, will trigger emotions like passion, love, anger and danger. Where blue brings feelings of calmness, serenity and peace. This is why it is important to put thought into the use of the space and the colors that will enhance the experience in that space.

Now, if you are familiar with color theory, color wheels and mixing colors, you will know that there are primary colors, secondary colors, and tertiary colors.

Primary Colors
These are red, yellow and blue. these are the only three colors in the colorverse that cannot be made from mixing colors. they’re primary in the sense that they’re the beginning colors, or starters, of virtually every other color. conversely, all colors can be derived from a mix of the primaries.

Secondary Colors
These are the three colors created from adding two primary colors together; orange (red + yellow), green (blue + yellow), and purple (blue + red). these will also be directly across the wheel from the three primaries.

Tertiary Colors
They are the six tertiary colors on the color wheel are made from mixing a primary color and a secondary color; yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-purple, red-purple, and red-orange.

Using The Color Wheel In Art For Interior Designs

Now is the fun part! Mixing and matching these colors in interior spaces in order to create spaces that people love to be in. On the most basic level, a good interior design improves a space by making it better suited to its purpose.

Each environment, and room within that environment will have different purposes to it’s use and then how it works into an overall interior design style. This can get a little complicated so we are going to break it down into simple colors and how they affect mood in a room.

Blue!
Interior designers love blues for many reasons for both corporate and residential projects. Blues are the ideal color for reception areas as they are formal, conservative and balancing. The most common use for blue is in monochromatic color scheme, where blues of different shades, tints or tones are combined. This creates a wonderfully tranquil space, sedative and heavenly, ideal for bathrooms or adults bedrooms.

Add pale blue into your space to soften a corner, choose a dramatic blue for a strong regal flare, toss in a bright blue for an electric pop of color, or stick with a neutral shade for an inviting color to paint the walls. Blue is also preferable because it works as a compliment to almost any color on the wheel.

Yellow!
The yellow color is bright, cheery, warm, and sunny. It makes us feel cozy and happy. In color therapy, yellow brings a joyful feeling. For interior design, yellow furniture, walls, or accents can add brightness, even to a small space. Interior decorating with yellow color is associated with warm and happy things in life. Color therapy uses yellow color shades to make people smile and feel joyful. The yellow interior design color creates a sense of warmth and coziness, and it is a trendy wall paint color.
Red!

Red is a powerful design element and interior designers often use red to draw attention to important elements. For example you can highlight sections of a room to get attention to a specific area, idea or design element. This color can also spur people into action and stimulate ides.

The use of the color red in interiors has been known to raise blood pressure, increase respiration, and boost metabolism. A red accent draws attention. Many designers use light red color shades in modern interior designs to stimulate passion, sensitivity and innovation, and make decor feel dynamic and impressive.

Using Secondary Colors In Interior Designs

Orange!
Orange can be used in any space that is used for fun, happy, social interaction such as the kitchen, or entertainment areas is ideal. This is due to the psychological properties of orange. The softer, paler oranges (salmon, peach and apricot tones) can be used more often in the bedroom. Interior designers often use orange to add warmth to rooms with splashes of color, in art or with accent walls.

Green!
The color green mostly has a calming effect with a sense of security, which makes it an ideal color for interior design. Emotions associated with the color Green are: Nature, Harmony, Growth, Fertility.

Purple!
Purple is often considered the color of royalty and creativity, and it is a combination of calm blue and exciting red. This color can add exotic flair to different rooms in your home and be dramatic or quiet, depending on the tone or shade. Purple is regal color can add richness to a space or drama to an architecturally simple room. It also happens to be the Pantone Color of the Year for 2022!

Using Tertiary Colors In Interior Designs

Tertiary colors are the perfect way to tie together a color scheme in a room. For example, create an ocean palette of pale blue walls and green drapes. Use the tertiary color blue-green in accents such as lamps, throw pillows and in the walls art. Tertiary colors can be bold and exciting, and when paired with a complementary color, create a striking impression.

You need a little bit of confidence when using tertiary colors to decorate your home, but as long as you remember the ‘less is more’ rule, these exciting colors can be used to inject life into an otherwise drab interior, or at least one that is too dependent on neutrals.

Hiking The Twisp River Trail

Hiking The Twisp River Trail

The original photograph was taken in Twisp Wa, in Washington State.

This town is located in the Pacific Northwest near the Okanogan National Forest. Specifically near Twisp River. I was hiking with my family, and you can see my two kids walking peacefully ahead of me.

This art was created when we lived the The North Cascades mountain range. These mountains span the border between the Canadian province of British Columbia and the U.S. state of Washington and are officially named in Canada as the Cascade Mountains. They are predominantly non-volcanic, but include the stratovolcanoes Mount Baker, Glacier Peak and Coquihalla Mountain, which are part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc.

We loved our time here in the mountains and hiked, biked and enjoyed them daily.

It's also wonderful to have so many artful reminders of our time here to look at now that we are in Boise, Idaho. It's also very special that other people can bring home a bit of the mountains everyday and enjoy them in their home, office or other interior space.

Once Choice to Make That Will Change Your Life

Once Choice to Make That Will Change Your Life

Running from what is woven into our very existence here on this planet is difficult. If not impossible. It is there, every waking moment as a constant companion.

However, there is the CHOICE to turn around and face it.

Owning our story can be as hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. ~Brene Brown

Face the shadow side, the darkness, the thoughts that wake you up in the middle of the night.

The CHOICES you make during the conscious moments will be the underlying energies that guide you in your subconscious mind.

In today’s art, I chose Water and Mystery as the medium to convey Brene Brown’s message. Our lives are the surface and our stories are the rocks we flow over time and time again.

The CHOICE is to continue to flow over the same rocks or to choose a different path. The surface tension will indicate the CHOICES we make.

Are your thoughts running smoothly or do they create noise and distress?

The Nine Best Ways To Use Art and Photography In Your Content Marketing Plans

December 26th, 2019

The Nine Best Ways To Use Art and Photography In Your Content Marketing Plans

Most people don’t realize the value of using art in content marketing and as a result they don’t use it very well. Most of the time marketers use cheap stock photos from low budget stock photo sites or from the public domain.

This is perfectly ok if you are creating images that have faded out backgrounds or you are making memes that don’t need to be high quality. It can also work out if you have a lot of time to look for the perfect image to use and can comb through hundreds of cheap photos.

This is a great opportunity for artists and photographers to make money with their art and photos. I recommend skipping the standard stock photo sites and to instead set up an art content marketing funnel.

An art content marketing funnel can get high quality art in the hands of businesses who can benefit from original photos to differentiate their brand with. Choose a specialty niche and create content for it. Then get that content in the hands of businesses who can use it.

Art is not just for walls or desktop backgrounds, it can also be used in a variety of content marketing and website design strategies.

In today’s blog post I am going to share the nine best ways to use art + photography to make money with your content marketing.

Blog Posts
Vlog Posts
Social Media Posts
Social Media Live Posts
Podcast Graphics
Optimized Graphics for Local SEO + Voice SEO
Public Relations
Online + Offline Advertising
Incorporate into Funnel Strategies
Blog Posts

Photos of specific locations, objects, themes and other unique identifiers are great to support blog posts around those subjects. Smart business owners either curate a specific set of pro’s to work with or develop their own style and use a good quality camera or phone camera to take their own photos.

Vlog Posts

Use art and photos to spice up your promo graphics for vlog posts and also inside the video to help make a point or illustrate a concept. Use colors and fonts to convey ideas and enhance the ideas with original graphics.

Social Media Posts

Social media posts are one of the best ways to use original art + photography for content marketing. Create memes, inspirational posts, affirmations and a ton of other original content. Using images you connect with will help your audience connect with you.

Social Media Live Posts

Create an announcement post to gather interest for your next live event online. Use images that are interesting to your followers to catch their attention and leave them wanting more. Use more than one image to create a carousel for a video effect.

Podcast Graphics

Graphics and images that are unique to you and your brand make your podcast stand out in a crowd. Have an artist create an icon set or illustrations specifically for you. Then anytime someone sees them they connect with your podcast.

Optimized Graphics for Local SEO + Voice SEO

Using images that relate to your posts give you the opportunity to use the alt tags to gain extra search engine optimization benefits. The name of the image will give more credibility to the post overall if the words match. Make sure you fully describe the image for maximum effect.

Public Relations

If you need photos of you, your store or products, it is a good idea to work with a professional photographer. Develop relationships with people you know and like so that they will capture the best possible vision of you. Super bonus points if they can also do product photos or flat lays for you.

Online + Offline Advertising:

If you are an offline brand, using the work of local artists and photographers can increase the local vibe and support for your business. Use your content marketing channels to promote the local artists + photographers you work with.

Incorporate into Funnel Strategies

Use your custom art + photography throughout your funnel. It can be incorporated into your lead magnet, landing pages, content pages, social posts, sales pages, desktop and more. Taking the time to craft a unique brand gives you the opportunity to stand out among like products and offers.

Art is not just pretty to look at, it can capture the attention of your prospects and help to differentiate your brand from the competition. It also has the additional benefit of creating relationships with people in other professions.

Many people who are business minded have a difficult time moving into a more creative frame of mind. Working with people who are creative by nature can make this much easier and for many business owners can spark innovative ideas and strategic partnerships.

Therefore it is a good idea to take the time to locate a local artist you admire and see if there is a way to work with them directly rather than endlessly looking through cheap stock photo sites.

Are You Ready For Success?

November 14th, 2019

Are You Ready For Success?

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. ~Pele

Can I get an 'Amen'?
This quote is short, sweet and %100 accurate.

Success comes when we meet it full on. Not half way, not from the couch, not after a few beers, not by watching TV and definitely not by working for something or someone you don't care for.

Sure we can get by with these things. But getting by is not the same thing as being #successful.

I invite you to try an experiment. Go to the most 'successful' people you feel comfortable with and ask them to list the 5 things they feel made them successful.

Are you doing any or all of those things?

I work with clients who come to me because they want to be successful faster and with less 'wasted time'. My blueprints, worksheets, how to's and instructions give them the framework to fast track their success.

BUT! They have to put in the work, stick with the grind, learn, study, sacrifice some couch/tv time and most of all they have to love their biz.

So when I found the quote above, it totally resonated with me. What seems 'easy' now is going to get really hard the longer you wait. What seems hard now will get easier as you do the work and reap the rewards.

Now we get to the work part, and if you have been following my posts this month you will know that I am all about working S.M.A.R.T.E.R. and not harder. So the one piece I will adjust is 'hard work' is 'smart work'.

There is a time and a place for hard work but ultimately I believe you get farther, faster by working smarter.

What do you think?
Is success an accident that happens to a lucky few?

I am posting a new photograph each week, and then send a special mail like this one to your inbox. Look for it each Saturday.

The ' Fine Art America ' logo will not appear on your final purchase.

I invite you to view my collection of colorful uplifting photographs and gifts, and bring new light and life to your home and those you love.

I produce and sell art and photography that is designed to promote wellbeing, positive mental health, focus, productivity and spiritual awareness all at the same time!

My partnership with Pixels (Fine Art America) assures each print is produced using my high-resolution original photos, meticulously assembled at a state-of-the-art production facility, and delivered worldwide to your doorstep as a "ready-to-hang" masterpiece with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

If you purchased one of my photographs, I would love to hear from you and thank you personally for your purchase, and to make sure you are pleased with the product and service from Pixels / Fine Art America (replies from you go to my personal inbox, because my newsletter goes to your personal inbox, and I feel like fair is fair).
