Description
I was able to get a long distance shot of this eagle scanning the area as it watched over its mate eating. Not in this shot is the other bald eagle that was apparently eating a fresh meal on the ground around this tree. The eagles talk to each other periodically as one was eating the other was keeping a lookout.

Thank you Kym, The trees around it might be cottonwood? I am not sure. There was a dead animal on the ground and this eagle and it's partner were having lunch. They kept an "eagle eye" out for each other as they took turns eating. :-)

Omaste, NICE ONE! I don't think I have ever seen an Eagle in a Birch Tree, or is that an Alder? Anyways, it's such a great "secretive" looking photo! I like it.. I like the red spots of color on the trees too! Her feathers look ruffled... I like that on her head! Anyways, great shot, voted and fav'd....
