In the Pacific Northwest you will find many varieties of lilies making their way through a large number of garden's. Oriental Lillies are one of my favorite flowers the intense smell is so nice to inhale.
The first lily in the spring is enough to bring a smile to my face. Here in Winthrop this exotic flower will show up in about June depending on where exactly you live. Twisp, Winthrop, Mazama and Carlton each have their own time when it blooms. Seattle has a much longer growing season than we do.
"Lilium (members of which are true lilies) is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs, all with large prominent flowers. Lilies are an important group of flowering plants and are important in culture and literature in much of the world. Most species are native to the temperate northern hemisphere, though their range extends into the northern subtropics. Many other plants have "lily" in their common name but are not related to true lilies.
